The civilians were asleep but one of the large families in God Capital, the Duanmu Family, was still awake.
After Siya’s husband returned. He had been summoned by the old ancestor.
In the Duanmu Family, there was an old ancestor and nobody knew how old he was. He had lived for so long and was still alive. Each family head of the Duanmu Family needed to receive a period of teachings from the old ancestor.
The next generation’s family head, Siya’s husband, Duanmu Yue, grew up alongside the old ancestor.
To Duanmu Yue, the old ancestor was really knowledgeable and his cultivation was really high. He was the trump card of the entire Duanmu Family.

Duanmu Yue pushed open the small wooden hut that the old ancestor lived in.
It was decorated really simply with a bookshelf in the center. The room was really exquisite, decently sized, and was large enough for a whole family to live in. But with only one old man there, he seemed really lonely.
Duanmu Yue knew that some old people didn’t like to be alone and wanted many children and grandchildren.
But this old ancestor was different. He loved to be alone.
One of the walls was made of stone and there was a furnace there that could heat up the place. There was a rocking chair in front of it and an old man who was laying there quietly with a blanket over him.
In the furnace, a flame was still burning intensely.
The old man wasn’t too old but compared to those who had died from old age, he appeared a little young.
But his youthful appearance couldn’t hide his decomposing heart.
Duanmu Yue pushed the door in and stood there for a long while. He didn’t move at all and just stared at the old ancestor.
The old ancestor didn’t move at all as he laid in the rocking chair. With the white blanket over him, his breathing was really weak like a corpse.
Duanmu Yue felt a sour taste in his nose, and for some reason, he wanted to cry.
The old ancestor had raised him since he was young. His parents died fighting for the family and at three years old, the old ancestor brought him by his side. He appointed Duanmu Yue as the next head of the family.
This was also the reason why Duanmu Yue and the other family kids were different. This was because the old ancestor had personally raised him.
The old ancestor was the closest person in his heart.
In truth, even his wife was chosen by the old ancestor. He said that Siya would help him and the two of them would spend the rest of their lives together.
Duanmu Yue had never forgotten about the old ancestor’s instructions. He married Siya and was very loyal. The husband and wife loved one another and gave birth to one son.
After Duanmu Yue became of age, he was chased out by the old ancestor but he would come back every once in a while.
He personally watched as the old ancestor become quieter and quieter, and older and older.
Not just his outer appearance, but his aura, and even his heart.
The old ancestor’s life limit was here!
Duanmu Yue was not willing and didn’t dare to think about it.
But his rationality told him that this was true.
Duanmu Yue walked over slowly and added some timber to the furnace. He looked respectfully at the old ancestor.
The old ancestor was the biggest hero in the world.
“Duanmu Yue, you are here.” The old ancestor opened his eyes and smiled when he saw Duanmu Yue.
“Old Ancestor, sorry that I interrupted your dream.” Duanmu Yue apologized.
“I did have a good dream.” He smiled.
Duanmu Yue said, “Does old ancestor want to share it with me?”
“I dreamt about my youth. When I was young I was as handsome as you are now and I desired so so much.” He said slowly.
“Old ancestor is still really amazing.” Duanmu Yue said sincerely.
“No, I am already really old and my life is coming to an end.” Old ancestor smiled as he waved. He spoke the truth which made Duanmu Yue’s heart sink.
“How can that be? Old ancestor still has a long way to go.” Duanmu Yue said gently.
“You are a really delightful kid, but do you know how old I am now?” He asked.
Duanmu Yue shook his head. He really didn’t know the answer to that.
“I am… 30,000 years old.” He said.
Duanmu Yue looked at the old ancestor in shock. 30,000 years old?
“Is that very shocking?” The old ancestor smiled.
“Eh, based on what I know, even if one reached the 33 stages of Legend, one can’t live so long, right?” Duanmu Yue hesitated.
“No. 20,000 is already really decent. If you cultivated life techniques you can extend a few thousand years but not to 30,000.” The old ancestor shook his head.
“So, how did old ancestor live for so long?” Duanmu Yue suppressed his sadness and asked curiously.
“Do you see that tree outside?” The old ancestor pointed.
Duanmu Yue looked out. He was familiar with that tree and he had played under it when he was young.
It was a black tree without many branches. It was just one trunk that had stood there for who knows how many years.
“This is the Soul Raising Tree. It has been nourishing my body and soul and allowed me to live.” The old ancestor said calmly. He looked at the Soul Raising Tree with a lot of emotion.
“Soul Raising Tree?” Duanmu Yue was shocked.
“Where did you get it from?” Duanmu Yue asked.
“Let me tell you a story. ” The old ancestor added.
Duanmu Yue listened intently.
“30,000 years ago, there were two talented and hot-blooded young men who wanted to do well.”
“So, they rebelled!”
“They rebelled together with all the people who were being suppressed!”
“The two young men finally succeeded but they argued with one another because of the throne.”
“In the end, he won and became the emperor while I created the Duanmu Family and moved into the God Capital.”
The old ancestor talked about his past.
Duanmu Yue listened closely.
“But when he became the emperor, he became more and more wary and wanted to wipe out my Duanmu Family. If I hadn’t been around, Duanmu Family would have been long gone.” The old ancestor said calmly.
“He is the founder of Feather Transformation God Dynasty?” Duanmu Yue asked.
“Yes. He isn’t dead.” Old ancestor said calmly.
“What?” Duanmu Yue looked on in shock.
“If old ancestor uses the Soul Raising Tree to live till such an age, then what about him?” Duanmu Yue asked.
“I don’t know but it might come from the same place.” The old ancestor sighed.
“What place?” Duanmu Yue asked curiously.
Old ancestor wanted to reply since he was about to die, so it didn’t matter anymore.
But then, someone knocked on the door.
The old ancestor was stunned and after looking at the door, he saw someone familiar. He became solemn. “Open the door for the envoy!”
“Envoy, what envoy?” Duanmu Yue was confused but he still went to open the door.
He opened it and saw a fierce-looking man with a red watch.
The surface continued to tick and spin.
