“Wait, you can’t leave. You are not going anywhere until we have this straightened out.” Lin Zixiang stopped Shu Yan. “Your voice surely sounds a lot like my daughter’s but it’s not exactly the same. My daughter talks fast; you talk slow. And my daughter’s mandarin isn’t as good as yours. Wait, I remember it now. When we called last time, the woman talked exactly like you do. She talked the same speed as you with your mandarin. Who are you and what have you done with my daughter?”
“It’s a waste that you are not an author.” She was surely creative.
Lin Zixiang gasped. “I get it now. You are the fake that Shu Jianyang hired. Did he really kill my daughter and take all of the money? How else would he be able to find someone with a similar voice to answer the phone? Where are the two children? The two children are my daughter’s life. She took them with her everywhere she went. That was no way that she would not bring them back with her. No way. I am going to call the cops.”
Shu Youfu, standing to one side, also had it figured out. He immediately run to the front desk to call the cops and tell them that his daughter for sure had been murdered.
Nevermind about Shu Yan, even Feng Zeyu was a little dazed. These people were so dramatic.
Old Mr. Shu had come over at this point and saw Shu Yan looking at the two persons acting crazy with a smile that wasn’t a smile on her, her hands crossed in front of her chest.
Old Mr. Shu gave the two a stare and said solemnly, “What the heck do you think you are doing? This is Jiangyang’s important day. Don’t think I will take it lightly if you dare make a scene.”
Shu Youfu looked at Old Mr. Shu, feeling aggrieved. He made it sound like he had taken it lightly in the past.
“Dad, we aren’t trying to make a scene here but this woman really isn’t Shu Yan. For sure she is a fake that Shu Jianyang had hired. We have no idea where the real Yanyan is. Dad, Yanyan is your granddaughter. You can’t just let her die out there without at least finding out the truth.”
“What the heck are you talking about? This is your daughter. You can’t even recognize your own daughter. What kind of parents are you?” Old Mr. Shu was very angry. He had long since figured out that his second son and his family were unreliable. As such, had never expected them to support him.
“No, Dad. I mean, really.” Lin Zixiang looked over at Shu Yan. Even though everyone else thought this was her daughter, she still felt that she wasn’t her daughter. “Our Yanyan wasn’t like this. It wasn’t just the look. She wasn’t……”
Shu Yan gave Lin Zixiang a surprised look. She could tell that she wasn’t original owner? Truth was, she had never spent that much time with original owner, especially after original owner had gotten married. The two had drifted apart even more. She only came looking for original owner for money. How was it that someone like her was able to tell that the soul inside the body had been switched?
“Mom, knock it off already. I’ve lost weight and went to have my chloasma removed by lasers at the hospital. I had been gone from City Xi for over a year and had learned and grew a long. Of course I wasn’t the same Shu Yan as I was before.” Shu Yan said firmly, “Don’t even think about getting more from me. I will overlook what had happened in the past. In the future…… if you try anything else, I am going to stop sending you money and other stuff every year. I trust that none of the other villagers will say much even if I do that.”
Shu Youfu tugged at Lin Zixiang, gesturing her to stop.
“But I truly feel that she is not my daughter.” Lin Zixiang grumbled one more time. Her heart ached a little. She felt that her familiar and caring daughter was truly gone.
