Chapter 191: Underwater Remnants

After multiple experiments which involved ramming into walls at breakneck speeds, Li Yi finally got to the bottom of the difference between a forcefully tamed mermaid and a tamed mermaid.

The mermaid submitted total obedience to Li Yi’s orders, with no sign of defiance. But the problem was, complete submissiveness meant she would not change the course of direction. So if Li Yi did not give the command to make a turn, she would continue on without hesitation, even if it meant running straight into a wall.

She lacked self awareness…

This sort of situation, to Li Yi, has its pros and cons. The good news was he got to ride a mermaid. The bad was, of course, the mermaid not having any self-awareness. If they were to encounter any danger, they would rely solely on his control.

Naturally, Mermaid Princess only went into Complete Obedience state when mounted by Li Yi. If Li Yi were to let her out for a stroll, her self awareness would return and be in full display of begrudgingness towards Li Yi. She would activate her Treasure Hunt skill to obtain mostly poisonous items, obviously in attempt to do away with Li Yi.

If the speed was lessened by a tad bit, an underwater battle would still not be an issue.

No matter what, he finally subdued Mermaid Princess and Li Yi was happy about that.

Opening up the Level Rankings, the current first place, Lonely Semi City was at Level 50. This extremist caught up and surpassed Li Yi by three levels while Li Yi was in between quests.

Whether it was the past or current life, Lonely Semi City proved himself in capability, leveling in swiftness everyone could only look up to.

Although there were plenty of Instance Dungeons between the Level 50 – 60 range, there were simply too many ways to go about in leveling up. The Spellcasters, in particular, would have mastered area of effect 1  and high-damage spells then, which enabled them to go solo out in the wild. The EXP obtained was a lot more than in Instance Dungeons.

By leveling, not only could all attributes be strengthened, but it was also total dominance over monsters and players with a difference of 10 levels and above. This was one of the reasons why these ranked crazies were not pulling punches when it came to grinding levels.

Little Drunk Cat’s boosting service had become well-known. Chen Yang and Pretty Good Mood complemented each other in teamwork, and neither did Fire Ice who was in charge of finance let Li Yi down. Everything was handled well and in order. Li Yi no longer needed to fork out his personal funds. The guild’s various sources of income were enough to sustain the guild itself.

It has been quite a period of time since Jiaojiao was online. Truth be told, Little Drunk Cat never treated her as the Guild Master. To them, their Guild Master was none other than, Dark Wing.

With the surrender of Mermaid Princess, Li Yi chose to grind level in the waters. The Level 50 to 60 stage would be over quickly and once the Arena was opened, he would be at a great disadvantage if his level was too low.

He definitely would not be able to make it to the Level 90 Eastern Ocean map. Therefore, he chose the super large lake, Underwater Remnants.

Underwater Remnants’ full name was Atlantis’ Underwater Remnants. The origin story of the area was that it was the remnants after the fall of the ancient civilization, Atlantis city, hence the name Underwater Remnants.

Underwater Remnants was a Level 50 map. With the fall of ancient civilization the place was occupied by murlocs. Murlocs had stout builds and moved as slow as snails on land but their movements were swift underwater. These murlocs were social monsters that flocked in at least in groups of 40 at a time. They tossed their spears at the enemy in assault. High-ranking murlocs were proficient in curse spells to weaken enemies in various attributes.

Murlocs would take the form of a toad and leap around on land. Due to the liberalization of King of Pantheon, these blood-thirsty fellas could also become one’s friend.

If murloc reputation could be improved to Worship, a precious Mysterious Egg (locked) could be bought from a Murloc Quartermaster once a month. This benefit had many Archers and Summoners go crazy in raising their reputation with the murlocs, all for that legendary pet from the Mysterious Egg.

Murlocs Reputation was definitely an aim for Li Yi. The idea of a Divine Bird Phoenix had always tempted him. Although Violent Bear King was awesome, as his level went higher, only a pet with large-scale group attacks could satisfy his needs.

Li Yi rode Mermaid Princess down the waters. Underwater Remnants map was huge with countless murlocs swimming about and chirping at times.

Li Yi was in control of Mermaid Princess’ velocity as he lured the nearby murloc. Chirp chirp. A few hundred murlocs were chasing behind him. The spears in their hands were launched like a shower of rain.

“Full speed to the surface!”

Li Yi grabbed ahold of Mermaid Princess’ neck and pulled it upwards. Slush— Mermaid Princess’ body erected and swam upwards, evading all spears completely.

“Intermediate speed down below!”

Li Yi continued to play out orders, pressing Mermaid Princess’ head in order to submerge into the waters.

Murloc spears inflicted high damage. With Li Yi’s current equipment, even with Violent Bear’s Protection, he could not withhold strikes more than three times. Basically, he could be taken out in two hits but as King of Pantheon was all about the realness, these murlocs did not possess unlimited tosses. Once the spears in their hands were cast, that was it. If they wanted to throw the same attack, they had to go ahead and retrieve their spears.

Unarmed murlocs were skilled in close-combat. Although the damage was high, keeping a distance from them guaranteed safety.

When faced with the pursuit of Murlocs coming from all directions, Li Yi ordered Mermaid Princess to come to halt. A layer of golden glow lifted from his body, he drew back the bow in his hands before firing in all directions.

“Shoot at Random!”

“Swish swish swish swish —”

Li Yi’s mana was continuously exhausted. In a short of span of seconds, over sixty arrows were shot everywhere until his mana was completely worn.

Murloc’s HP was around 30,000. Although this random firing did not end their lives, it lessened at least half their HP.

“Full speed to surface. Turn left and move downwards!”

Li Yi issued another order at Mermaid Princess, swiftly escaping the encirclement of these murlocs.

Taking a bottle of Advanced-Level Mana Recovery Potion together with a Will Scroll, Li Yi’s mana quickly recovered. Following a set pattern, he continued to cast Shoot at Random. It was not long before he killed all murlocs that were hot on his tail.

One murloc gave out 3,000 EXP. The total EXP of a few hundred murlocs increased Li Yi’s EXP by 5%. At this momentum, Li Yi would be at Level 48 in matter of hours.

Who said Shoot at Random was rubbish? There was no such thing as a rubbish skill but a matter of how to use it.

This Shoot at Random skill by Li Yi was picked up by Sometimes It Gets Sad from Not Gray Wolf. Confused Fox was curious at the time but Li Yi kept him in the dark about it.

[Shoot at Random: Fire shots at random in all directions. Each arrow shot costs 5 mana points and shooting will terminate at the completion of mana or when the shooter is inflicted with damage.]

Similar to Wizards’ Blizzard, when Archers commenced Shoot at Random, any infliction of damage would cause the skill to be disrupted. Hence, many Archers in the past life perceived this skill as the most useless. Wizards’ Blizzard has an additional effect of deceleration yet Shooting at Random came with no other effects. Isn’t this simply trash?

The rarest and trashiest skill ever, Shoot at Random.

This was the conclusion drawn by a famous Archer player, Shoot ‘Til Morning Light in the past life after countless experiments.

Of course, even if Shoot at Random was a renowned trashy skill, there were still plenty of Archers mastering this skill. This was because the ultimate skill of Archers, Overlord, had a prerequisite of Level 20 Shoot at Random.

Several hundred murlocs corpses lay afloat on the waters. Li Yi looked on with a migraine and in the end, passed off looting these corpses.

These were just regular murlocs and the best they could drop was a small amount of Gold Coins together with a piece of white or blue-colored equipment. If he were to go ahead to loot each one of them, the time spent would be longer than farming monsters. It was not worth the time. Li Yi had to give it up in order to focus on grinding levels.

“Intermediate speed ahead!”

Li Yi controlled Mermaid Princess to swim deeper into the water regions.

With Shoot at Random engaged and paired with Mermaid Princess’ swift movements, Li Yi shuttled past the school of murlocs with ease. Needless to say, he had absolute confidence in surpassing Lonely Semi City’s level.

Two hours had passed when murlocs corpses were widely littered here and there. Li Yi’s EXP was now at 79% and he was about to level up.

“Splash!”

Just as Li Yi was going to go deep with Mermaid Princess to battle it out with the murlocs, a female human wizard jumped down from ashore. She came over here to dig out some shell-made materials but was in shock when she came across the mountain of murloc corpses.

She extended her arm out to probe one of the corpses when “Ding!”, she looted a piece of blue-colored equipment.

“I can… I can loot?” The female human Wizard took a glance around to confirm she was alone before swimming to these corpses in euphoria and initiated a looting frenzy.

“I, Qi Ge must be the world’s luckiest person. Hahaha! Wow, only I can come across this system bug! I’m gonna be rich! Filthy rich!…”

This female human Wizard was called Qi Ge. She was completely unaware that this was the doing of Li Yi and simply thought it was a system bug.

There were simply too many murloc corpses and Qi Ge’s backpack was quickly filled to the brim. She started tossing away white-colored equipment and sorting out the selection…

Li Yi was going all out farming monsters in the front while the female human Wizard, Qi Ge was looting in full force. Once Li Yi made it to Level 48, Qi Ge had left and returned three times to sell off the equipment and earned more than 7,000 Gold Coins.

“I’m rich! I’m rich!”

Qi Ge bought four bags with 2,000 Gold Coins at the Auction House and now the squares below her backpack reached 400. She did not have to worry about the backpack going full now.

Qi Ge happily returned to Underwater Remnants. Now no matter the good or the bad, she simply fitted all items into her backpack. As she was looting, she was counting in her head. ‘2,000 Gold Coins, 2,001 Gold Coins… This blue-colored equipment is worth more, 2,101 Gold Coins…’

Just when Qi Ge was drowning in looting paradise, the murlocs around respawned. When they saw Qi Ge, they chirped aloud before tossing the spears in their hands at her.

“Pfft—”

Qi Ge was struck with tens of spears and immediately lay dead. Four bags worth of items dropped with a boom.

“Oh shit, I only have 536 Gold Coins left. I, Qi Ge, am the world’s saddest person…” Qi Ge’s corpse floated to the surface as she counted the items scattered around in melancholy.
