“Right, time to prepare some offerings for Demiurgos-sama. Let’s change things up a bit and include that as well.”
Although I had made offerings to Demiurgos-sama before, the snack offerings had all been premium canned goods.
Today’s dinner of Offal Hotpot or Motsunabe would match perfectly with alcohol. Therefore, I figured it would be a good idea to send Demiurgos-sama some hotpot to go with his favourite saké.
Today, I looked up the weekly ranking for saké ideas.
First bottle: Tochigi saké.
A Junmai Daiginjo slowly brewed over a low temperature.
It has a fruity aroma reminiscent of melons, a soft mouthfeel and a gentle sweetness. Recently, it has been so popular that supply could not keep up with demands, making it difficult to get hold of this saké.
Second bottle: Fukui Prefecture saké.
[9] Junmai Daiginjo aged at 0 ℃ for 2 years.
Long ageing under icy temperature is said to give the saké a grapefruit-like aroma. It is said to have won a gold medal for the third consecutive year at the US National Saké Appraisal [10].
By the way, saké from this series has been used for many government sponsored ceremonies and served to many important people from all around the world.
Third Bottle: Yamagata sake.
Ukiyo-e label dry Junmai Daiginjo [11].
This dry saké was completed after a three year trial in response to a request for dry saké in this series. [1] A dry saké with a refreshing and fruity aroma.
I chose this one for its very distinctive ukiyo-e label.
Now that I have the three bottles of saké along with the premium canned goods, [8] I placed them on the table with the freshly made offal hotpot (soy sauce based broth). After some thought, I also included a packet of Chinese egg noodles.
Right, this should be good enough.
I put my hands together and prayed, “O, Demiurgos-sama, please, accept these humble offerings.”
“Oh? Oh, thank you for taking the trouble to do this each time~ I was really looking forward to it.”
“Today’s offerings are the usual saké and canned goods. Additionally, I have made this offal hotpot, it should go well with the saké, please accept my humble offerings.”
“A hotpot! My, my, the God of Earth treated me to this once. It was delicious~ While eating the hotpot itself is interesting, I must say the final thing added to the leftover soup had the strongest impression on me.”
“This hotpot is likely to be different from the one Demiurgos-sama enjoyed before. However, I believe that Offal Hotpot is pretty good too. The final thing to be added to the leftover soup will be these Chinese noodles [5].”
“Hooh~~ I see, I see, I look forward to it.”
“It had just been cooked, so you may have it right now. Once you have eaten most of the ingredients, please stir in these Chinese noodles and let them simmer for a little while before eating.”
“My, my, I can eat it right away? You sure thought of everything, much appreciated. I shall have it with my saké now.”
A light glowed over the offerings and in a flash, they disappeared.
[6] I sighed and was about to leave for bed when Demiurgos-sama’s voice reverberated in my head again.
“Speaking of which, let me tell you now. The Kingdom of Reijseger [5] had been destroyed.”
“Eh? What?” fully awake now, I could only blink for a moment before saying, [8] “Was it defeated in a war against Malbert or something?”
“Umu, yes.” [7] There was a ‘crack’ of a bottle cap being twisted open followed by a soft glug of liquid. After a lip smacking ‘ah’, Demiurgos-sama continued, [4] “When Reijseger started the war against Malbert, the demon races from the north came down and joined in the war as well. Even so, Reijseger had an overwhelming number on their side consisting of enslaved poverty-stricken humans, elves and dwarves.”
[6] “Enslaved? That sounds terrible,”
[4] “Umu, it is similar to the slave bracelet used on one of the summoned individuals brought in. [5] The bracelet is capable of causing death to the people who rebelled against their masters. Unfortunately for Reijseger, many of the slave soldiers prefer to die rebelling than to fight and later be tortured again.”
[6] “Oh, wow, that’s…” I really don’t know what to say to that. I’m not sure if I have the guts to do anything like that.
“Anyway, the tide of war was summarily turned. The royal family, as well as nobles closely connected to the royalty, were all decapitated.”
[5] That pig king must have mistreated his slave soldiers really badly for them to choose death over fighting for their own lives…
“So, what will happen to Reijseger now? Will it be absorbed by Malbert?”
“Most likely, the people appeared to look forward to it. After all, while under the rule of Reijseger, they had been exploited in all sorts of ways. Even those who did not trust Malbert looked forward to some sort of change at least.”

“… …” Demiurgos-sama, what do you expect me to do with this information? Aren’t you just torturing me?!
