“Grandfather.” Duan Feiyu waited for the carriage to stop and then leapt off. He reached out to carry Duan Xiaomo who was behind him, but Duan Xiaomo just pushed his hand away emotionlessly and jumped off the carriage on his own. Duan Feiyu did not mind, obviously used to Duan Xiaomo’s attitude.
“Xiaomo, you have come too.” Ling Chuxi smiled at Duan Xiaomo and waved at him.
Duan Xiaomo had been standing there quietly, but when he heard Ling Chuxi’s voice, he froze. The little boy turned around and quickly made a beeline for Ling Chuxi. He stood close to her, ignoring Duan Qingchen who was standing nearby.
Duan Qingchen just smiled bitterly. The boy was his own flesh and blood, but he was closer to Ling Chuxi.
“Miss Ling, how do you do?” Duan Feiyu came forward and greeted Ling Chuxi and the others, his expression somewhat strained.
Ling Chuxi naturally understood why he was tense and smiled. “Master Duan, I never thought that we would meet again so soon.”
“Indeed,” Duan Feiyu said awkwardly.
Lan Xinyu and Su Xiu’er rolled their eyes at Duan Feiyu. Although they were dissatisfied with him, on account of Ling Chuxi and Duan Qingchen, they did not attack.
“Senior Duan can go down with us and stay for while, if you wish. What do you think?” Ling Chuxi invited Duan Qingchen. Duan Qingchen would probably agree, since it would mean letting Duan Xiaomo and her spend some time together, which might help with his recovery.
“Yes, I was thinking the same. I wouldn’t mind a cup of tea,” Duan Qingchen agreed with a chuckle.
After it was decided, Su Yizhen guided the carriages onto the cable car, and some of them went down first. Amongst them were Ling Chuxi and the three people of the Duan family. Duan Xiaomo was quietly sitting by Ling Chuxi’s side, leaving Duan Feiyu looking at them oddly. Duan Qingchen had told him that Duan Xiaomo’s attitude towards Ling Chuxi was a little different, but seeing it in person still surprised him. Duan Xiaomo had always ignored everyone, including Grandfather. How was so close to Ling Chuxi? Was it because Ling Chuxi had saved him back then?
The huge cable car slowly descended, and after passing through the layer of mist, the valley slowly manifested. There was a waterfall in the distance that seemed to pour from the heavens, with golden sunshine lighting it. Beneath the waterfall was a lake that looked like a piece of jade, and around it were beautiful flowers and small animals drinking water. Underneath the cable car was a broad path, and both sides of it were flanked by lush trees.
“In the middle of the valley is where the main hall of the Golden Pill Sect is. It is built on three steep ridges. Doesn’t it look like it is floating from this angle? That is because the skilled workmen back then built it to hide the large part of the mountain cliff beneath, making it look as if it was suspended mid-air,” Su Yizhi explained spiritedly as he gestured at the building on the tall mountain in the distance, no longer the silent old man from earlier.
Ling Chuxi was observing the valley in awe. She thought that Su Yizhi was just exaggerating or being biased when he said that the Golden Pill Sect was the most beautiful place in this realm, but from what she could see, he was telling the truth!
