Xirong Ziye’s thoughts ran wild as he clasped his hands tightly, turning his knuckles white. His face was tensed up.

Seeing that he was landing in Country X soon, Xirong Ziye asked the people beside him, “How do I look? Do I look okay?”

One of his subordinates seemed to know what was bothering the president and nodded. “President, you look great. There’s nothing odd.”

Upon hearing those words, Xirong Ziye finally felt relieved.

He kept questioning how much time he had until they landed. He seemed to be asking every other minute, and his subordinate answered his every question patiently too.

Xirong Ziye hoped to land in Country X soon so that he could see Bai Yaoyao. He asked repeatedly, starting to feel impatient and anxious.

Seeing how flustered the president looked, the subordinate was rather taken aback. In their eyes, the president had always been solemn, calm, and collected.

Bai Yaoyao exited the mall and began to stroll aimlessly on the streets.

At that moment, she heard the music being played in the mall, making her heart feel even lonelier. She still felt empty and wanted to feel a hint of warmth. However, she realized that the person providing the warmth she craved didn’t belong to her.

Bai Yaoyao’s lips curled up self-mockingly. Looking at the lively streets, she suddenly felt that she didn’t belong there at all.

On the streets, she saw couples and families. The sight only made her feel that she wasn’t a part of this place.

Bai Yaoyao’s expression turned increasingly desolate.

She didn’t understand why the others’ love stories were all so perfect. Why couldn’t she meet someone solely meant for her too?

She was exhausted. She wanted to have her own home, a place that can offer her warmth.

It was so painful to not have a home. She felt as though she was floating around insecurely.

She couldn’t even describe how lonely and painful her heart felt, which was suddenly overwhelmed with sadness. It seemed as though she saw no meaning in life anymore.

At that instant, the pessimism within Bai Yaoyao was revealed all over her face.

She strolled and strolled, entering an alley. This alley was ancient-looking, yet unusually quiet. It was peaceful and quaint.

Old Chinese residences remained in that area.

Bai Yaoyao stopped in front of a stone step and sat down. Hugging her legs, she began sobbing silently.

She really wanted to have a home and someone to keep her company. She was simply too lonely and insecure. She had no sense of belonging at all.

On other days, she would be laughing alongside others and slogging off in the military. However, as she spent time alone and gazed at the lively scenes, she realized how lonely she felt.

Before, she had Duan Yanhao who was pampering her and keeping her company. She could console herself in that fact and slowly heal from her past. But now, she felt that it was too good to be true.

She knew that there could be something wrong with Duan Yanhao, but she had never imagined that he could be someone’s brother-in-law.

Bai Yaoyao’s heart hurt and ached. With no one around her now, she was free to cry her heart out.

In the past, she used to be positive and strong. However, she was no longer that kind of person. Her heart was fragile, and she cried easily now.

Fortunately, no one was around now, so she could cry without a care.

When Xirong Ziye found Bai Yaoyao, he saw her curled up alone. Her shoulders heaved up and down, as though she was crying.

Xirong Ziye stopped in his tracks and watched Bai Yaoyao from nearby. Looking at her, his heart throbbed too.

Yaoyao was crying. Although she buried her head, he could still tell that she was crying. At one glance, he could feel how intensely she had missed him.
