913 Making a Scene
Sun Jiao looked at Sun Juan aggrievedly and said, “But I didn’t say anything. What’s wrong with just asking!”
“Can you use your brain! She’s kind enough to let us earn money together with her, yet you still want to snatch her business? If you don’t want to work, then just get lost and go home quickly. Don’t embarrass me here!” Sun Juan said disdainfully.
After being scolded, Sun Jiao realized her mistake and quickly lowered her head to do her work. Everyone stopped chatting and just focused on plucking the corn.
Qiao Yu barely survived the night at the remote train station. The elderly woman in charge of cleaning up the train station washroom woke her up. Otherwise, she might have frozen to death there.
After taking a breather in the washroom, she slowly walked out and looked helplessly at the people around her. She did not have a single cent on her and she was very hungry. She could not even remember the way back. Could it be that she was really going to die in this wilderness?
“What… are you doing here?” The security guard at the train station looked at Qiao Yu in puzzlement.
Qiao Yu acted like she had seen her savior and hurriedly went forward to say, “Big brother! Can you give me a dollar! I have become separated from my family! I want to go back and look for them!”
The security guard only came over to check on the situation because he saw Qiao Yu dressed in rags and snooping around. He thought that she looked like she was up to no good. He did not expect this woman to ask him for a dollar the moment she opened her mouth. He did not make much money a month. This woman must be crazy from thinking about money.
Just as the security guard was about to chase her away, Qiao Yu quickly knelt down and said, “Big brother, I beg you! You have to help me! Please!”
The people around immediately turned to look at them. The security guard looked around in a panic and said, “I have nothing to do with you! If you want to take the train, then show me your documents! Otherwise, leave quickly! I won’t lend you money!”
“I really have no choice! Please save me! I just want one dollar! As long as I can go home! I beg you, big brother! Otherwise I can’t go back!” Qiao Yu shamelessly hugged the security guard’s thigh and wailed.
The commotion quickly caught the attention of the leader in charge of the train station. The leader hurriedly came down to maintain order and asked the security guard to bring Qiao Yu to his office to explain the situation.
This was the time at the end of each year when the government would judge each work unit’s performance. If their train station was criticized because of this matter with Qiao Yu, they would not be able to apply for any funds next year! He could even forget about keeping his position!
After the leader made sure that everything was settled at the train station, he returned to the office in exasperation and said to Qiao Yu, “Young lady, please sit here for a while.”
Then, he pulled the security guard out of the door and reprimanded him, “Didn’t I say during the meeting that nothing can happen during this period of time! Nothing can happen! Don’t you take my words to heart! Do you know how bad this matter can be? What if there are secret investigators sent by the government among the passengers today! Can our train station still maintain a good performance!”
“She appeared at the entrance of our train station dressed in rags. I was worried that she had ulterior motives, but who knew that she was a scoundrel!” the security guard said angrily. He was clearly doing this to maintain public order at the train station, so why was the leader blaming him without distinguishing right or wrong?
“So what if she’s a problem! This is such an important and critical moment! Can’t you report the situation to me first?” the leader pointed at the security guard and shouted angrily.
The security guard could only listen quietly and did not dare to say a word of rebuttal. The leader had all the say, so there was nothing he could say. The only thing he was afraid of was losing his job. At most, he would be reprimanded for a while. The worse case scenario was that his salary would get docked. He felt really unlucky to have encountered such a thing.
The leader looked at the security guard silently for a while and sighed. “Sigh… you can go back. I’ll handle this matter.”
The security guard hurriedly ran back, worried that the leader would go back on his word and change his mind. The leader pushed open the door and saw Qiao Yu rummaging through the things under the coffee table. She had even made herself a pot of good Pu’er tea and put in half a pot of tea leaves!
