“Yes. I used to think you were very important to me and that I couldn’t live without you. But then, I realized that putting you in the center of my world all these years has pushed me towards the edge of exhaustion. I’m losing myself because everything must be about you. I’m tired of this kind of life. Huo Mian, just let me go. I’ve told you before, we’ve met peacefully, and now it’s time to part merrily. I’ve given you so many houses and cars, along with a billion dollars. You can live without any worries for the rest of your life. We’ve been together for a year, and let’s be honest, you’ve gotten a lot out of it. So, I don’t owe you anything, we’re even.” Qin Chu swung his arms out harshly and loosened Huo Mian’s grip. He then walked out of the hotel without looking back.

Standing behind Qin Chu, Huo Mian began to cry. Big drops of tears began falling like the last thunderstorm before the end of summer.

Huo Siqian, who stood from afar, felt his heartache.

“Mian…” He wanted to walk up to her, comfort her and tell her – Mian, it’s not a pity that you’ve lost Qin Chu, you still have me.

But before he could say anything, Huo Mian ran out crying.

At the exit, she bumped into someone. Out of surprise, she looked up, and noticed it was Su Yu, dressed in all-white casual wear. He wore a simple long-sleeve t-shirt with Versace’s classic logo and a pair of jeans. Obviously, Mr. Su didn’t show up to attend the cocktail party, he was here for Huo Mian.

“What’s wrong?”

“He left.”

“I knew it! That bastard! Wait here, I gotta go beat him up.” Before Su Yu could turn around, Huo Mian stopped him.

“No, it’s okay. If he doesn’t want to see me, we should leave.”

“How are you okay with that?”

“What can I do even if I’m not okay with it? It is what it is!” As Huo Mian finished speaking, she hopped onto Su Yu’s Lamborghini.

As soon as Huo Mian got into the car, she took some Kleenex and wiped away the tears on her face. She then stuck out her tongue and asked Su Yu, “What did you think of my performance just now?”

“What?” Su Yu asked in confusion.

“I was putting on a show for Huo Siqian! You know, the scene where Qin Chu and I had a fight to show that we’re completely done?”

“Oh. I came too late and missed it. But, seeing how much you’re crying, I guess you were pretty into it.”

“Of course! If I don’t do it seriously, that bastard would never believe it.”

“You should go to South Hill Manor and do some explaining to Qin Chu. He doesn’t know you were just acting, he’s probably feeling terrible right now,” Su Yu guessed.

“It’s okay. Being the fox that Huo Siqian is, he will probably have Qin Chu and I followed. If I go find him now, we will reveal ourselves.”

“So where should we go now?”

“Seductive Fox.”

“Seductive Fox?” Su Yu repeated with surprise.

“Shouldn’t I appear to be heartbroken and get drunk or something?” Huo Mian chuckled.

“Oh, okay. Huo Mian, you win…” Su Yu said as he twirled the steering wheel towards the direction of Seductive Fox.

The party at the hotel continued. Song Yishi lied and said that she wasn’t feeling well and excused herself. In reality, she just didn’t want to stand next to Huo Siqian for another second.

“Boss, we are done with the investigation.”

“And?” Huo Siqian sipped on a glass of champagne and asked slowly.

“Qin Chu back to GK Headquarters to some extra work, and Huo Mian, I mean, Miss Huo went to Seductive Fox with Su Yu. She looked very upset and was still crying after getting off the car. Su Yu was holding onto her as she walked.”

“Sh*t. I’ve planned for so long, and Su Yu ends up getting the better end of the deal.” Huo Siqian slammed his glass down onto the table and walked out of the hotel as he wiped his hands with a handkerchief.

“Su Yu, let’s do a duo?” The room gave off a weird vibe as there were only Su Yu and Huo Mian.

In an attempt to break free of the awkward vibe, Huo Mian took the initiative and asked Su Yu to sing a song with her.

Su Yu was surprised for a moment, and then a deep happiness began bubbling from the bottom of his heart.

“You can pick the song.”

“You mean…You will sing whatever song I pick?” Huo Mian smiled and began scrolling for songs.

Su Yu took a seat on the nearby couch and watched Huo Mian quietly. For a moment, he felt greedy and wondered how amazing it would be if this woman was his real girlfriend…
